A Raffle for The Bride and Groom

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

I attended a bridal shower last night and it was a lot of fun.  It actually gave me a really good idea for a raffle.  I think with most weddings, the expense of it is the biggest burden on the bride and groom.  Either they have to pay for it themselves or their parents are helping them pay for it.  Nevertheless, most weddings end up costing tens of thousands of dollars.  I think that if there was a way to help them with this expense, that bridal showers could take a new twist.

I recently got a lot of Twilight memorabilia donated to me and I have a bridal shower that I have to throw soon for my cousin.  I think it would be cool idea to hold a raffle at the shower with all of the proceeds going to the bride and groom to help them pay for the wedding or the honeymoon.  The Twilight stuff is really, really nice stuff that any Twilight fan would love to have.  The shower I’m throwing for my cousin is actually Twilight themed because she loves the book series so much.

I figure if I include info about the raffle on the invitation then people could bring two dollars, along with whatever present they buy her, to buy a raffle ticket.  Two dollars is not much at all to pay for a raffle ticket, so I think people would be willing to do that.  My cousin was so excited for this idea, so I think it will go really well.

Raffle for New Moon Movie Tickets

Monday, November 16th, 2009

If there’s one commodity that’s not going out of style any time soon its Twilight.  Everywhere you go, you see Twilight series merchandise.  With New Moon coming out soon, there’s a ton of New Moon stuff around.  I just went into Bigg’s the other day and they have New Moon party supplies!  I am a Twilight fan, so I don’t mind all the hype around the movies and books.  I also think that because the Twilight series is so popular right now, and because New Moon is coming out very soon, that it would be a good idea for any organization in need of a fundraiser to raffle of a few pairs of tickets to see New Moon.

I’ve been suggesting this idea to all of my clients.  One of the restaurants I work with is actually raffling the tickets off with 2 dollars off the ticket price.  I thought that that was a great idea because it means that people are more likely to buy raffle tickets to win the tickets to the movie rather than buy the tickets themselves.  You can raffle off tickets to the midnight showing or just an any day showing of it.  I think either way, you will have success with this kind of raffle.

What might help your raffle with the movie tickets is if you include some New Moon merchandise with the tickets.  Just about any store you walk into sells New Moon merchandise, but you can go try to find the most unique stuff and put them into a gift basket and raffle that off with the tickets.  You can also plan a raffle event for the raffling off of this stuff where you have food and drinks and a showing of the Twilight movie.  This will help get people hyped up and want to invest their time and money into winning the tickets.  Plus its just really fun.  There’s a new moon rising…

Stephenie Meyer Raffle

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Stephenie Meyer is by far one of the most popular authors of this day and age.  I have yet to go some where and not see at least five different people carrying or reading one of her books. Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, Breaking Dawn, and The Host are probably the five most profitable books on in our country right now.  Probably beyond our country as well.  I believe that we have an incredible opportunity here.  It would be very wise to tap into this profitable resource when it comes to selling raffle tickets.

I recently got the opportunity to obtain some autographed Stephenie Meyer books and things.  I’m going around to my clients to see which one of them would like to use this to earn some money for their business.  The schools I work with are obviously very interested in using them.  I came up with the idea that they could hold a Twilight raffle at their school one night.  They could decorate their gym/auditorium with Twilight decorations, have the movie playing throughout the night, baked goods, etc.  With Halloween coming up, the idea of people coming wearing costumes got thrown into the mix as well.  The schools are very excited about this idea.

I looked up on Ebay how much a hardback set of her books autographed is going for, and its around $6,000.00!  This can greatly benefit the schools if they do a good job advertising their event.  I can’t wait to see it play out.  Let me know if any of you have any other ideas that could benefit this Twilight raffle night.
