Raffle At Cinco de Mayo

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

It’s the time of year for Cinco de Mayo, and a lot of people are planning parties for it.  I think a lot people like to celebrate Cinco de Mayo because it’s the first big party the can have since New Year’s.  Do you know what would be a great addition to any Cinco de Mayo party? A raffle!

My reasoning for thinking throwing a raffle at a Cinco de Mayo party is good idea is threefold.  Especially if your work is throwing a party, it’s a great way to raise funds for your business.  You could raffle off spanish themed prizes, like a gift card to the local spanish restaurant in your town or a cruise to Mexico! Also, it’s a great way to get people in your town more experienced in spanish culture.  While a Cinco de Mayo party may not draw them in, a raffling off of goods just may.

Let’s face it, throwing a raffle at your Cinco de Mayo party would be a heck of a lot more fun than busting open a pinata.  People love parties, and they love raffles.  Why wouldn’t they make a great combination?!  I hope you enjoy your holiday,  and that perhaps you take some of my advice and have a raffle at your party!

Starbucks Raffle

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Everybody loves Starbucks, right?!  I can’t think of one person I know who doesn’t like it.  I’ve already gotten three Starbucks cards this Christmas from people.  It seems to be the popular gift this year.   Many friends and family have been asking for a Starbucks gift card for Christmas.  That’s why I think it would make for a great raffle item.  I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want to win a Starbucks gift card.

There are many reasons why a Starbucks gift card makes a great raffle item.  First of all, Starbucks is like McDonalds in that there is one on every street corner.  This ensures that whoever gets a Starbucks gift card can surely use it.  Another reason is that there are other things at Starbucks other than coffee.  This enables the customer to have a choice, and they love that.  Lastly, Starbucks can be kind of pricey.  So a gift card to there enables the customer to not have to spend money.

Thanks Starbucks for being such a wonderful company!  I work love going to Starbucks to work, meet with friends, and go on dates with my husband.  Have a Merry Christmas this week everyone.  Enjoy your holiday!

All I Want For Christmas Is A Raffle

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

I love coming up with raffle ideas for my clients to use.  Like I said last time, I love involving them in the process as well.  They can often give a different angle on an idea than I can.  I’ve had some time to think through some ideas lately, and I think that I’ve come up with some good ones.  I’m not going to share them all right now, but I do want to share one that I really liked that works well for Christmas.

Its called an All I Want For Christmas Raffle.  Basically you sell raffle tickets to people for a pre-paid American Express gift card.  That way, if they win it, they can spend it on whatever it is that they really want for Christmas.  Another way to do it would be to search Amazon for the most looked at or shopped for gifts and raffle those off knowing that most people would actually want those for Christmas.

I like this idea because it gives the buyer and seller a lot of freedom.  The seller can really cater to their buyer.  Honestly, who wouldn’t like receiving a gift card that they could spend on whatever it is that they truly want?  I think that that is a pretty easy sell.  I got the idea when I was at Kroger the other day and I saw their spectacular array of gift cards.  It occurred to me that gift cards are one of the best things that you can raffle off other than cash lol.  I see a lot of potential with this cash gift card idea.

Restaurant Raffles

Monday, September 28th, 2009

I recently went a visited some of the local restaurants in my area.  Not really like fast food restaurants, but more places that are sit down restaurants.  I was actually pretty successful in striking up deals with them where they would use raffle tickets in their restaurant.  The following is the pitch I gave them as to how they could use their raffle tickets:

Every time a costumer comes in and buys drinks/food they can opt to put their name in the raffle for a $100 gift card to that specific restaurant.  They can fill out a raffle ticket for every item of food or drink that they order during that visit.  Then, at the end of the month the restaurant will draw a name out of the raffle and give or send the gift card to whoever wins.

Not only does this give the restaurant an opportunity to stand out from other restaurants, it will also help improve their sales.  If people know that their restaurant is providing this, they are much more likely to eat there than some where else.  I thought that this was a pretty creative idea, and a lot of the restaurant managers liked the idea.
