Starbucks Raffle

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

Everybody loves Starbucks, right?!  I can’t think of one person I know who doesn’t like it.  I’ve already gotten three Starbucks cards this Christmas from people.  It seems to be the popular gift this year.   Many friends and family have been asking for a Starbucks gift card for Christmas.  That’s why I think it would make for a great raffle item.  I can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t want to win a Starbucks gift card.

There are many reasons why a Starbucks gift card makes a great raffle item.  First of all, Starbucks is like McDonalds in that there is one on every street corner.  This ensures that whoever gets a Starbucks gift card can surely use it.  Another reason is that there are other things at Starbucks other than coffee.  This enables the customer to have a choice, and they love that.  Lastly, Starbucks can be kind of pricey.  So a gift card to there enables the customer to not have to spend money.

Thanks Starbucks for being such a wonderful company!  I work love going to Starbucks to work, meet with friends, and go on dates with my husband.  Have a Merry Christmas this week everyone.  Enjoy your holiday!

All I Want For Christmas Is A Raffle

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

I love coming up with raffle ideas for my clients to use.  Like I said last time, I love involving them in the process as well.  They can often give a different angle on an idea than I can.  I’ve had some time to think through some ideas lately, and I think that I’ve come up with some good ones.  I’m not going to share them all right now, but I do want to share one that I really liked that works well for Christmas.

Its called an All I Want For Christmas Raffle.  Basically you sell raffle tickets to people for a pre-paid American Express gift card.  That way, if they win it, they can spend it on whatever it is that they really want for Christmas.  Another way to do it would be to search Amazon for the most looked at or shopped for gifts and raffle those off knowing that most people would actually want those for Christmas.

I like this idea because it gives the buyer and seller a lot of freedom.  The seller can really cater to their buyer.  Honestly, who wouldn’t like receiving a gift card that they could spend on whatever it is that they truly want?  I think that that is a pretty easy sell.  I got the idea when I was at Kroger the other day and I saw their spectacular array of gift cards.  It occurred to me that gift cards are one of the best things that you can raffle off other than cash lol.  I see a lot of potential with this cash gift card idea.

Raffling Gone Over Board

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

I feel like I’ve been coming up with raffle ideas left and right.  It’s kind of exhausting really, but I love it.  It’s really fun to come up with ideas, but its a little harder to execute them.  I’ve been presenting the ideas to all of my clients, some of them have gone over well and some of them not so well.  But I know that my clients love that I am always working to come up with new ideas for them to try.

To better be able to help each of my clients more specifically with their needs.  I’ve asked them to come up with ten ideas of things that they could raffle off, and I could help them execute the ideas well.  The all liked that plan and have committed to giving me their ideas when the new year begins.  I think that this will help us work together well and come up with great ways to help them earn money.

Now you might say that this is me shirking my responsibilities, but I’m not.  I too will be using this time to do some more brainstorming for new ideas.  I want to do my best for my clients.  I will also be using this time as a break for Christmas to spend with my family.  We all deserve that atleast, right?!

Raffling off Christmas in the Workplace

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Christmas can be a hard time for families financially, especially in this economy.  It can be hard for parents to get their children the presents that their kids really want or even need.  There has to be a way to aid them in that need.  Of course there are giving trees posted up around the city where strangers can buy presents for children in need.  I think that many business don’t know where to start when it comes to helping out the less fortune.   I thought about pitching the following idea to each of my clients:

Each employee in their business could choose a family in their community and could donate a toy or clothing to a giving tree raffle that they business coordinates.  The business can raffle off tickets to their employees to enter their name in the drawing to win some of the presents to give to their family that’s in need.  This way the business is able to earn a little cash and help their community.

Most of all it just encourages people to get in the giving spirit and be others focused.  That is something that we as a nation can definitely improve upon.  It is important to take care of ourselves, but only to the point where we are bettering ourselves to be able to help others.  Can you imagine what the world would look like if we cared more about each other than we did about ourselves?

Black Friday Raffle

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

Yesterday I went Black Friday shopping, and today I am trying to recover from it.  While I was shopping, it made me think that I wished that there was a Black Friday for raffle tickets lol.  There are certain times of the year when raffles are more common than other times, but there is not a certain day like there is for most retailers.  It made me wonder if maybe there was a day when a certain place would host an event that offered really great raffles.

I think this day would probably work best during the Christmas season because that’s the time of year that people love to spend money.  It would have to be majorly advertised and we would have to get some great backers for the products that we raffle off.  The items that would raffle off would have be tremendously great gifts to give to other people.  The price of the raffle ticket would have to be lower than usual, so that people feel like they are getting a good deal if they do win.

I think what would make this event even greater is if all of the proceeds went to a charity that supported families at Christmas time.  How great would that be?!  That would really urge people who would normally buy a raffle ticket to buy not just one, but a few.  More importantly, we could really help out families who are in need at Christmas time.  I think that I’m really going to start working on this so that we can do it next year at this time.

Top 5 Reasons the Holiday Season is a Great Time for a Raffle

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

If you are thinking of holding a raffle for your organization, one of the best times of the year to do it is around the holidays.  There are a number of reasons why this is the case, and I think you’ll end up agreeing with me.

1. People are in a Giving Mood - Sure, people celebrate the holidays for different reasons, but one thing is for sure, people give way more around the holidays!  Basically, the entire US economy is built around the 4th quarter.  Why do you think there is a Santa or a Salvation Bell ringer at every grocery store?  Selling tickets at this time of year can have a huge impact for your organization if you are aware of people’s generosity.

2. Companies are in a Giving Mood - It may be much easier to secure for yourself a big ticket raffle item at this time of year because companies are also more generous this time of year.  Part of it is the Christmas spirit, but a bigger part of it is the end of the tax year!  With companies just begging for write-offs, get out there and ask.  You’ll be surprised at what you may land for your raffle.

3. Raffle Tickets Make Great Gifts - Some people don’t like to shop at all.  They hate the noise and bustle of the holiday season, but they don’t want to look like a scrooge.  Do your homework and find these people.  If you can sell them the idea of your organization and the raffle, they may but lots of tickets to give away to their gift list.  It’s a win win!

4. Bank Accounts are Low - Now before you think this is a downside, think of it like this.  People love to gamble!  Especially when their budget is thin.  A raffle offers a chance to win something big for a small amount and many people are willing to take that risk when their cash is low.  This can result in lots of ticket sales.

5. You Get to Play Santa - Think of the great PR you can create for your group in giving away your raffle reward on Christmas.  Have fun with it!  Have someone dress up like Santa and give someone a very Merry Christmas.

There you go.  Now you know the top 5 reasons why you should hold a raffle at this time of year.  Now get out there and get to work!
